Man of Steel Superman suit on display...

If you're excited for Zack Snyder's re-imagining of DC Comics Man of Steel then you'll want to take a trip to ArcLight Pasadena cinema to check out one of the original Superman suits used in the movie on display to promote the film's release this week.

Michael Wilkinson and James Acheson are responsible for controversially updating Superman's iconic look, giving him much darker, moodier tones compared the classic vibrant red and blue hues. You can see just from these photos how the suit reacts to different kinds of light and the glossy sheen it has.

Personally I miss the traditional red underpants over the tights. For me that says Superman and superheroes in general, and I'm more than willing to suspend my disbelief at the impracticality of the design. If you like an outfit closer to the colourful original suit, be sure to click through to check out Brandon Routh's Superman Returns movie costume, which I thought was a really fantastic update.

    1. I don’t own this suit and it’s probably in the Warner Bros Studios Archives, but they have been selling lots of costumes and props via Prop Store auctions lately
